Section 17
Disability benefits

(1) If a judge is injured in the course of his official work, even if he is not required to retire from service, if his capacity is hindered due to the injury, a lump sum amount of up to ten thousand rupees will be given to such judge considering the seriousness of the injury. Assistance can be given.

(2) For the entire period necessary to treat the injury as per sub-section (1), the judge shall get additional sick leave with full salary without deduction from any accumulated leave.

( 3) Such a judge will receive 100% of the medical expenses incurred while treating the injury as per sub-section (2). The expenses incurred during such treatment will not be deducted from the treatment expenses that he can get in accordance with Section 31.

(4) A judge will not be entitled to benefits under this Act if he is injured due to his own serious negligence.
